The Road Not Taken: Transportation for the 21st Century

University of Virginia urban designer Warren Boeschenstein discusses his work to create desirable communities around commuter rail stations and how rail transit in Virginia can ease highway congestion, road maintenance costs and pollution. Virginia Tech Transportation Fellow Ray Pethtel discusses transportation innovations ranging from “smart” roads that monitor your driving to toll booths that “read” cars as they pass and bill drivers monthly for the tolls.
