From the westward expansion of slavery, through emancipation and segregation, to the rise of the black Civil Rights movement, railroads have played a pivotal role in African-American history. In this Black History Month presentation, historians Ed Ayers of the University of Virginia and Linda Killen of Radford track the pain and progress delivered by rail.
