Current Interns

Cassie Deering
Cassie is a second-year Speech and Communication Disorders major at the University of Virginia. Cassie was a host, writer, and editor for Intersections in Public Service, a public policy podcast by the Weldon Cooper Center. Before that, she was a sound engineering intern at WTJU Radio, which ignited her passion for audio. Cassie also plays in the drumline for the Cavalier Marching Band, and at home, she dabbles in keyboard percussion and classical guitar. Cassie enjoys using her love of music to transform audio into an atmospheric experience.
Former Interns

Maya Nir
2021-2022
Maya Nir is an active, eager third-year student at UVA. She lives just down the road from Virginia Humanities’ new office, and has enjoyed engaging more with the Charlottesville and Virginia community in this role. She is passionate about journalism, international relations, and social justice. When she’s not doing school work or connecting with new guests for the show, you can find her on the frisbee field (go Hydra!), volunteering at Caromont farm (eating a lot of goat cheese), or fostering dogs and puppies from the CSPCA.Â
