Vietnam from the Other Side

Vietnam from the other side

What did the Vietnam War look like from the other side? A new collection, Another Vietnam: Pictures of the War from the Other Side, assembles photos from the wartime photographers of North Vietnam. You can see some of the photos on Mashable’s writeup here.

I listened to your interesting interview today with Fredrick Logevall. Now it would be wonderful if you would follow up with an interview with Viet Thanh Nguyen, author of The Sympathizer and Nothing Ever Dies, who speaks from the side of a Vietnamese man (though raised in America). He gives an important perspective for us Americans …. including asking questions about why the word Vietnam (a country) somehow implies a war to us. This would REALLY add to what you can teach your audience about what our country did there and what it means to see the world through the eyes of “the other.” Thanks so much for considering this suggestion.
